Re: [EP-tech] Change Admin View Configuration Path

No, you shouldn’t be editing anything in the html directory.  The html directory is curated by EPrints and will overwrite things whenever it wants to.

The template is likely [eprints_root]/lib/templates/default.xml -- just copy the file to [eprints_root]/archives/[repoid]/cfg/lang/en/templates/default.xml (paths from memory, so check -- they might be wrong) and you’ll have an editable one.

Hi,

Yes, you're right. the template stored in the global path, but it can edit from web interface. The path of file is archives/[repoid]/html/en/.

Thank you,

Hi

Can you tell me exactly which file and path your colleague needs to edit?  The template files are often stored in the global configuration, but they can be moved to the local to make them editable though the web interface.

Hi,

I need this bacause I not always handle this repository. My other administrator need to customise the branding because the location of template is on [eprints_root]/archives/[archive_id]/, not on [eprints_root]/archives/[archive_id]/cfg/templates/.

Thank you,

Hi

Can we go a bit deeper into this?  What’s your use-case?  Why is the other administrator editing the file -- what’s the business reason?  Which file is it?  What technologies do they have available for editing?

Without knowing more about why you want to do this, it’s very hard to narrow down to a specific solution.

Hi,

I want to change the path because I want another administrator can edit file on [eprints_root]/archives/[archive_id]/ without using linux console or by ftp. Please advice what file I must edit to get this work.

Thank you,

Hi

Yes, but I’m not sure what your use-case is.  The cfg directory is constructed based on the base directory.  It’s always this:

                                [eprints_root]/archives/[archive_id]/cfg

eprints_root is where you installed eprints.  archive_id is the ID of your archive.  it’s only the ‘archives’ and ‘cfg’ bits of the path that you can’t change.

Why do you need to? If you give more detail abouyt the problem you’re trying to solve, I may be able to give a suggestion of how this may be solved.
