[EP-tech] Re: How to display the embargo expiry date to users

there's also a citations/document/default.xml (and also a brief.xml), try to play with them.

I've added this in the middle to display the embargo to default.xml:

<epc:if test="security != 'public'">
<br />Item not available <epc:if test="date_embargo">until<epc: print expr="date_embargo"/></epc:if> for intellectual property reasons. Visibile to: <epc:print expr="security"/>
</epc:if>

Hi John,

Many thanks !

I would very much like to see (on the citations) the embargo date for any embargoed document. As it appears now, such a display strategy is not straightforward !
While waiting for a prospective solution to my wishes, where do (the location) I find the default instruction 'Item availability may be restricted.' Is it possible customize this instruction ?

Regards
John

Hi John,
I think the '[error in script]' that you can see in the screenshot you sent is because you are trying to do something with the document data (embargo date) from an EPrint object.
If you look in the apache error log, you should have more explanation as to what is wrong.

The embargo is defined at a document level (and there could be multiple documents for one EPrint).
What would you want to appear in this situation?
  - One embargo date for each document?
  - The earliest date of any of the embargoes?

I think the default EPrints adds some text to the normal citation in some circumstances (e.g. search results page) : 'Item availability may be restricted.' if any of the documents have embargoes on them.

Does this help at all?

Cheers,
John

The short info should be on the citations, in the archive config. The problem is that the view is not updated when the embargo expire, so you've to find a way to recreate a view almost every day, or insert a trigger to do it when the embargo expire (lift_embargo.pl).

Hi all,

I really hope to catch some pieces on information about my question.

Here is the problem :

As you can see on the capture below, embargo information on an item is
displayed on the abstract page

Actually, the embargoed document is cited as follow :

Fainstein, Balia(2013)./La carrière du jeune donneur de sang :
réflexions autour de l'apport d'une recherche sociologique aux
stratégies marketing d'Héma-Québec/
<http://theses-dev.inrs.ca/970/>.Essai. Québec, Université du Québec,
Institut national de la recherche scientifique , 132 p.

That means, information about any embargo is not directly displayed to
the user. Such information is discovered to the user whenever he
clicks on the title link ( to see the abstract page). I believe, it is
not comfortable !

This is why I would very much like to show the embargo expiry date on
the item short display . That is :

Please note, in case of embargo, the link on the item title is disabled.

Could someone show me the right way.

I am looking forward to reading from you.

Best regards

John

Alan,

Can't you just extract what you need from the recollect bazaar plug-in?

I've found recollect to over-ride and duplicate fields which is not
optimal.
