[EP-tech] Re: A small issue in REF2014 Plugin v1.2.1

Dear Seb,

Thanks a lot! Sorry that I reply you late.

It cost me a while to find out why I got differences at our repository. Our repository is a heavily customised one. I didn’t see the new menu “REF Selections” shown up in the top menu bar. Therefore, I couldn’t do REF selections when my bench mark is not in a valid time period because I cannot find the button “REF Selection”. After I added a future date time in the “Valid Until” field, I can see the “REF Selections” button appearing under the “REF2014” menu as below.

I don’t really understand why it is not the same format as the EPrints Demo Server http://demoprints.eprints.org. But I did find another small issue in the EPrints Demo Server. When I added some records in my selections and then I went to generate the REF Report. I found the “Select all” button doesn’t work. The boxes cannot be not ticked. Then I tried to manually tick the first box which contains some outputs and then click the “View Report” button. But nothing appear...:(

This issue doesn’t appear in our customised repository…I don’t know why to be honest.

BTW, the User Guide manual on the home page is a bit out of date. The current frontend looks quite differently from what it was described in the User Guide. Are we expecting to get a update on it?

Thanks and Best Wishes,

Jia

Jia,

I don't think there's anything checking the "Valid until" value in the REF plugin so I'm not sure how this was a problem for the reports.

Seb.

Thanks a lot for the reply.

Without that field, I couldn’t edit the “Valid Until” field when creating a new benchmark. Then I couldn’t select that benchmark when generating a REF report because that benchmark is not in a valid period of time. Did I misunderstand something?

Hi Jia,

The field doesn't do anything hence I commented it out.

Kind regards,
Seb.

Dear all,

I am not sure if someone already starts testing this new version and noticed this issue. I just sent this email to remind who is going to use this version.

The “Valid Until” field is missing in the workflow of ref benchmark in the frontend. When checking the file  “/opt/eprints3/lib/workflows/ref_benchmark/default.xml”, I found the “end_date” line commented out like below.

<stage name="main">

    <component><field ref="title" /></component>

    <component><field ref="description" /></component>

<!--    <component><field ref="end_date" /></component> -- >

  </stage>

Not sure whether this is a typo or now, but without this field, I couldn’t edit the REF Benchmark from the frontend. Thus, I just removed the comments marks and restarted the Apache. Now the field is back in the frontend.

Best Wishes,

Jia
