[EP-tech] solved: Debian9 full-upgrade to Debian10 likes to remove eprints

Hi Thomas,

It would be interesting to know what trouble MySQL 8.0 introduces.? One
of my colleagues is keen to upgrade MariaDB databases for repositories
to 10.x.? There are a few steps required to do this, so I would not
advise doing this unless you know what you are doing and have a backup
of the database just in case.? I am not aware of any issues that
upgrading to MariaDB 10.x would introduce as long as the upgrade and
guided [1] conversion of the databases (to be 10.x compatibility) is
successful.

Although MySQL 8.0 and MariaDB 10.x are different beasts, I led to
understand a lot of the developments are quite similar (although maybe
how they have been implement is somewhat different).? Therefore, any
issues you experience with MySQL 8.0 would be useful to know to see if
similar issues may exist with MariaDB 10.x.? My colleague and I have
already done some database upgrades on test repositories and found no
significant issues but it useful to spread your net wide to gather any
potential issues before upgrading live production servers.

Regards

David Newman
