[EP-tech] EThOS webservice download tool

Hi James,

I recently used a modified version of this tool to get our items from Ethos and it worked very well. The modifications I did were mainly to match up a few extra data fields and to put information we don't use (e.g. Dewey Decimal classifications) into the notes field.

Hope this helps,

Ahhh I understand. That's good news!

The BL have just digitised some of our theses as part of a wider project and I'm trying to make sure we can get them all.

Your answer has just answered my next point - will I face the possibility of harvesting ALL of our digitised theses on there. The maximum limit customisation would be helpful, if you genuinely don't mind. I do feel a bit bad for so "borrowing" so much of your work (remember the crosswalks and divisional info from last year).

I think on this occasion I might get them all manually as there are only 20 items in this first batch, but my aim is to install this tool and gradually harvest all they have from the uni.

Thanks for your help,

Works like a dream ;o)

I might not be the best person to say how it runs in general - hopefully others will have some feedback too.

I never got around to creating it as a Bazaar package (it was 7 years ago).

I've got some local customisations to it that might be of use (ordering of multiple files contained in the downloaded zip (e.g. vol.1 before vol.2); a maximum number of files that will be automatically extracted - sometimes there are *loads* of additional files/appendices; possibly other things).

If people are interested in a Bazaar packaged version, I could possibly make one (not this side of Christmas though).

Hello everyone,

Does anybody know if the "EThOS webservice download tool" is still functional?

I've found the page for it after being directed there by the British Library download page, but I can't find it in the Bazaar if I go via the admin page on EPrints:

I thought it would be best to ask before I end up making some sort of horrendous mistake.
