[EP-tech] Re: Authors' profiles instead of depositors' profiles

I All,

We have something that does some of this, and handles Authors affiliations within the university/outside institutions, and allows us to tie any unique id to the author record (orcid, staffid, emails, scopus authorids etc..)

We shared it with Gilles Fournié (cirad.fr) so he could test the implementation.

Since then, I have also shared it back with Southampton/ePrints for inclusion into the base ePrints code (hopefully for version 4.x), as it helps solve a lot of issues people are having in a way I think is quite elegant and also expandable.

It allows for disambiguation of creator/authors regardless of the name they are cited by (which you can already do similarly with the creatorid field). (E.g. http://eprints.usq.edu.au/view/uniqueauthor/)
But this way allows any author to have many instances (eg movement within the institution, dept changes, external authors can be created as well, so you can then discover author collaboration etc, per paper for more metrics..)
It allows the single author (regardless of cited name) to have IRStats collected. ( the small bar graph icon next to their names in the unique author browse view)

It has lots of room to be expanded, to allow searching for users by an id/email address, many of which I haven’t gotten to yet :)

I haven't heard back from Southampton re: if it's being included or not... It's been quite some time now.

Cheers

Matt

Hi Adam,

I would like to show something like this: http://roderic.uv.es/pers/G3115.html

Like a mix between meprints and irstats2.

Regards,

Cristian
