[EP-tech] Re: Shelves documentation (in response to Re: Collections package)

Hi Adam,

I checked the search drop-down menu again and didn't find anything...I checked "Actions" menu and didn't find anything. I found this tutorial of Univ. of Southampton's library (https://www.southampton.ac.uk/library/research/eprints/userguides/creating-shelves.pdf) which shows that there's supposed to be a step in the workflow having the available shelves, but I can't find it in my installation. When I looked at the files installed, I saw that there is some workflow files added from the plugin, but not in my archive (you can see it in the module's files list). I suppose since they exist in the generic installation the plugin should be active in my archive as well, or have I gotten it wrong? Because if that's the case, I'll copy the files I think that should be needed in my archive and see if it has any results.

I understand you don't have time to play with it since your vacation is imminent, I hope I'll find something until you come back. I am keeping documentation of all configuration steps and installation for my repository (in Greek), so when I finish my project and rest a bit, I'll upload lots of stuff in the wiki (don't worry, it'll be in English! :)). I have a nice part for replacing basic fields (e.g. title, abstract) with multilingual fields and virtual fields that you'll love (it's based on your video, of course)! :):)

Anyone else having a clue? (...someone from Southampton University for example?...:):))

Hi George

You should get an option to add search results to shelves. This is the main interface. Try looking just under the export bar.

I'm afraid I'm about to go on annual leave, so I can't really help with this. However, if you haven't figured it out, please get back in contact with me on July 20th. I'll install it and figure it out. You could then help me to write documentation :)

Hi all,

I installed shelves to manage collections , but I can't find a way of
populating them (I am allowed to create shelves and manage them, but not
their content). I tried to see if there's an export option for shelves
(on searches) but found nothing. Looking for documentation I found this:
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-URxkuty755o/VXRsX4adBeI/AAAAAAACioE/YmS8cUvhFP8/w426-h588/mpam.jpg
which is ~2 years old, where somebody else is having the same problems
as me, and nobody gives an answer...

I also read Adam's thread on google+ asking if somebody could write
documentation for Shelves (about a year ago, here:
https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/eprints-uk-user-group/MNJP3CZsZuY),
so I'm thinking it might not work.

I am also trying to infer its usage by inspecting its file locations,
but I'm not that well acquainted with EPrints yet so as to yield a
fruitful result.

Any help or alternative is kindly welcome,

thanks all in advance.

George

PS. My EPrints version is 3.3.14
