[EP-tech] Re: Jason Error

Hi,

The files which handle the ajax phrases are:

- lib/static/_javascript_/auto/99_eprints_api.js (display the phrases)
- cgi/ajax/phrase (delivery of the phrases)

If you get a 500 then the error comes from the CGI script - you should get a message in the apache error logs (but won't be "Failed to load phrases" - that's done by the JS).

That functionality needs the PERL "JSON" module - is it installed on your server (*) ?

Seb.

(*) you can check on the command-line:

$ perl -e "use JSON;"

should display nothing.

Found no reference to ‘Failed to load phrases’ in the apache logs. Used the firefox + firebug extension and it showed ‘error networkerror:500 internal server error’ But this now appears to be my machine only.

Hi Simon,

Firstly I’d look in the apache error logs on the server – any references to ‘Failed to load phrases’ might be worth investigating. If that’s not useful, try using e.g. Firefox + Firebug extension* to investigate the AJAX calls being made. Look in the ‘console’ tab to see what is making the call – and to where, and what is (or isn’t) being returned.

Cheers,

John

*Other browsers also have debug/investigation capabilities – this is the pairing I use.

I have started to get the following pop error on Eprints. This seems to pop up on all tabs but don’t know where this is coming from.

Can any one advise.
