Dear David,
Thank you for your response. We are currently using version 3.4.4 and plan to upgrade to 3.4.7 today to verify the issue.
Our concern is that the top-level (root) division count should reflect the consolidated total of its lower-level divisions. However, in our case, the counts are mismatched.
For example, in the following link:
https://tryme.demo.eprints-hosting.org/view/divisions/
the University Structure shows a total count of 1693, which is the sum of:
-
Faculty of Engineering, Science and Mathematics (773)
-
Faculty of Law, Arts and Social Sciences (618)
-
Faculty of Medicine, Health and Life Sciences (302)
In our repository, this consolidation is not being reflected correctly. We request your assistance in resolving this issue.
Please refer to our instance here:

thank you for help
thanks

Hi,
I have reviewed and I believe fixed https://github.com/eprints/eprints3.4/issues/467 with my latest commit and I don't think it relates to the problem you reported. The issue was specificly to deal with pages like https://pub.demo.eprints-hosting.org/view/divisions/fac=5Fmed/ not showing a listing of years for its items. This is normal behaviour but when you set the browse view to "show_children => 1" it should display a listing of years, even if there is no items have this specific subject set like it does for a child, such as https://pub.demo.eprints-hosting.org/view/divisions/sch=5Fbio/
Simple subject based browse views like https://pub.demo.eprints-hosting.org/view/subjects/A.html albeit showing no items here would show a listing of all child items if the show_children attribute for that browse view was set to 1.

Hi,
Firstly, which version of EPrints are you running? Looking at your screenshots you look to have a problem, which has been fixed (in version 3.4.6+):
https://github.com/eprints/eprints3.4/issues/323
Saying that counts are displayed "correctly" does not really help me understand and explain what the problem might be but based on your screenshots I can see a number of subjects which have a higher number of items than its parent or ancestors above. If you could give me an idea of the counts you would expect to see in "Browse by Subject" that would be useful. If they are a lot smaller than what is displayed and a lot of subjects are missing this may be an indexing issue.
Without further information, it is difficult to discern what is causing a child having a higher count than its parent. If you have assigned subjects to multiple parents, then in some cases this may cause unexpected behaviour with subject tree based browse views. Otherwise, it would be useful to see the configuration for these two browse views to see if there is anything odd about them. If they are the default configurations for these browse view, then if I know the EPrints version you I can look these up.
There is a known outstanding issue which can sometimes cause problems with "Browse by Division and Year". It is possible this maybe causing your issue:
https://github.com/eprints/eprints3.4/issues/467
One issue you report for the "Browse by Subject" is that the overall subject count is not displayed. On the screenshot, I can see that every subject has a count assigned to it. Where would you expect to see this overall subject count?

CAUTION: This e-mail originated outside the University of Southampton.CAUTION: This e-mail originated outside the University of Southampton.Dear Team,
This is to bring to your notice that the repository is currently showing count mismatch issues in multiple areas:
Browse by Division and Year:
Total counts are not displaying correctly.
The counts shown under each division and sub-division are incorrect.
Browse by Subject:
Overall subject count is not displayed.
Category-wise item counts are mismatching compared to the division counts.
Some subjects and categories are not reflecting the correct number of items.
These inconsistencies are causing confusion for users and affecting data validation. Kindly check the configuration and indexing for both subjects and divisions, and regenerate/update the necessary views to fix the display and count issues.
Please update us once the corrections are applied or if any additional information is required from our end.
Looking forward to your prompt support.
