CAUTION: This e-mail originated outside the University of Southampton.
OK, please mark this one as closed. I have found out what I had done to my SEARCH button. I had simply overwritten the phrase that sits on the search button, next to the simple search
box, not realizing that it also bites on a similar search button on the Advanced search page. It was not a button to switch to simple search, but a button to execute the search. I have now put it back again, and everything is fine once more. Best wishes
Will

Hi Anyway, instead of re-programming the current configuration and getting into murky waters, I added some explanations on the Advanced Search screen to explain to users how to use
the various buttons in ways that are quite useful. However, somehow, the button to go back to simple search from the advanced search screen generates an error message “Warning You need to specify something for at least one field!” and remains on the advanced search screen. Meanwhile, the simple search at the top right of the template still works as it
did before. I cannot find where the button behaviour is controlled, and I wonder why (or even whether) its behaviour has changed. I would also like to stop the error message for a blank input to the simple search button and, instead jump to the simple search
page. Can anyone help me, please, to find out what happened to my Simple Search button! Will

On Behalf Of Will Hughes CAUTION: This
e-mail originated outside the University of Southampton. CAUTION: This
e-mail originated outside the University of Southampton. Hi I am wondering whether there is a more sophisticated search interface in Eprints 3. Currently, in Advanced Search, predetermined fields are listed and then users enter terms. I would like to be able to provide a search interface that enables a series of lines separated by Boolean operators, as many lines as the user wants
to add, with two boxes; one with the name of the field, the other with the search term. And I would like to use quotation marks to mean search only for an exact combination of words. I am imagining something roughly along the lines of ProQuest Advanced search,
or EndNote search. Is any of this possible, or available, please? Best wishes Will ____ |
