Re: [EP-tech] upgrading from MySQL 5.7

Hi Tomasz,

if you switch over to MariaDB – avoid load balancer and Galera cluster. EPrints is not made for that and you would run into problems due to syncing problems with the cache tables.

A simple primary/replica setup does perfectly.

Kind regards,

Martin

Thank you, Yuri, that is useful to know MariaDB 10.3 is working well.

Is anyone running EPrints with MySQL 8?

Tomasz

Hi!

we are using MariaDB 10.3 from the beginning (Debian default to MariaDB instead of MySQL) and we had no issues.

The simpler method is to sql dump the database and reload it in the new installation.

Hi everyone!

I will need to upgrade our database sometime soon, as we are currently running on MySQL5.7

We are on EPrints 3.4.3.

Has anyone been through the process of upgrading the DB recently?

Do you have any comments/recommendations based on how it went?

What would be the optimal upgrade path for the DB, should we upgrade with MySQL 8 or perhaps switch over to MariaDB (10.11 LTS)?

David kindly shared with me the following two issues

(thank you!)
