Re: [EP-tech] Add User Data in IRStats2

CAUTION: This e-mail originated outside the University of Southampton.
Dear David

I have no problem install and generate the default available report. I want to generate data download by user login since the repo is only for login users. I guess no one ever create those report yet.

I'll request that on irstats2 github.

Regards

Hi Izwan,

I am not sure if you need instructions of how to install IRStats 2 or just advice with configuration.  If you do need the former, you can install IRStats2 from the EPrints Bazaar.  This can be accessed through your repository by going to the Admin menu and going to the System Tools tab and clicking on the EPrints Bazaar button.  Once there under the Available tab scroll down to find the IRStats2 plugin or type IRStats2 into the search box at the top and then click the Install button next to it.

Once installed, you are best working from your server's command line.  First to install some dependencies you may need before the IRStats2 can start being used:

https://wiki.eprints.org/w/IRStats2#Dependencies

Then to start the initial processing and setting a cron job so statistics are updated each night:

https://wiki.eprints.org/w/IRStats2#Processing

What you want to do is something slightly bespoke and group statistics based on the specific logged in users who is downloading items.  The data that generates IRStats2 statistics does not include that, as typically most repositories care about downloads from users whether they are logged in or not and the vast majority will not be.  Other information about the user who has downloaded an item is recorded (IP address, user agent string, referrer, etc.) but not anything that would reliably tell you who the logged in user was.

If you need this requirement, it may be worth requesting this on the IRStats2 GitHub issues page:

Dear all

I've just created an internal repo that required users to login 1st as this site - https://wiki.eprints.org/w/Login-Only_Repository

I'm thinking to generate download data by the user login.

As I read here https://eprints.github.io/irstats2/config.html, it required Stats::Processor module that associates with those data.

Can someone guide / share the required code.
