[EP-tech] Failed to find workflow: file.default

I *think* if you change files that exist eprints might handle that and reload the file, but if you add a new file once it is running it doesn?t know to check and load those new files. Generally always a good thing to restart apache when you change the configuration.

After I restarted Apache it seems to work. I made changes to [EPRINTS_ROOT]/archives/[ARCHIVE_NAME]/cfg directory in the past without the need to restart Apache, didn't thought it was needed in this case.

Thanks for the help guys.

Our server is also an upgrade to previous versions (3.2.? -> 3.3.10 -> 3.3.12 -> 3.3.15) and had the same issue, although it isn?t a screen I?ve ever tried to access before.

After adding a default.xml to [EPRINTS_ROOT]/archives/[ARCHIVE_NAME]/cfg/workflows/file/ and restarting the apache service I can now see the basic file information as per the workflow layout. It doesn?t let me update the fields, but does have a ?Destroy? (Remove?) button.

Hi Emilian,

I assume you restarted (or at least reloaded) Apache? Please could you also confirm exactly where you put default.xml (I assume the latter of my examples) on your file system.

David, it still gives the same error, the workflows/file/default.xml file didn't fix the problem. Didn't Alan said he tried the same thing but didn't work?

Hi Emlian,

On second thoughts, I am not sure this is a good idea it allows you to edit these fields, which could lead to bad things happening. It is probably best if you strip out the component section and just leave:

<workflow xmlns=MailScanner has detected a possible fraud attempt from "eprints.org" claiming to be "http://eprints.org/ep3/workflow";<http://eprints.org/ep3/workflow> xmlns:epc=MailScanner has detected a possible fraud attempt from "eprints.org" claiming to be "http://eprints.org/ep3/control";<http://eprints.org/ep3/control>>
  <flow>
    <stage ref="main"/>
  </flow>
  <stage name="main"/>
</workflow>

Hi Emilian,

I have created a basic workflows/file/default.xml, it probably could do with some extra fields being added and it may show some phrases are missing but it should fix the original issue. Please note, I edited this file on Windows if you copy this onto you linux server, you should probably run dos2unix over it to make sure it has the right line endings.

Is there anything in {EPRINTS_ROOT]/lib/defaultcfg/workflows/file/ on your 3.3.7 version?

David, the things is that it works on the old version of eprints (3.3.7) that I am migrating from but there is no such file:
[EPRINTS_ROOT]/archives/[ARCHIVE_NAME]/cfg/workflows/file/default.xml

Only these two:
[EPRINTS_ROOT]/archives/[ARCHIVE_NAME]/cfg/workflows/eprint/default.xml
[EPRINTS_ROOT]/archives/[ARCHIVE_NAME]/cfg/workflows/user/default.xml

Hi Emilian,

This looks as though it is a bug common with the latest version of EPrints because this is a page that is rarely accessed, as you would not typically need a workflow to view/manage a file, as it is embedded within an eprint. You would need the following file:

[EPRINTS_ROOT]/archives/[ARCHIVE_NAME]/cfg/workflows/file/default.xml

However, I am not aware of where such a file can be found. So I will have a dig around and see if I can find anything.

Off the top of my head, and before morning caffeine, do you have a default.xml in [EPRINTS_ROOT]/archives/[ARCHIVE_NAME]/cfg/workflows/eprint/ ?
And if not, is there one in [EPRINTS_ROOT]/lib/defaultcfg/workflows/eprint/ ?

Hi,

I recently migrated an eprints server from version 3.3.7 to version 3.3.15 and when I go to Manage records -> Files and click View on one of the files I get this error:
EPrints System Error
Failed to find workflow: file.default

This is what I found in apache logs:
