Re: [EP-tech] Tim Miles-Board

I’ll second your sentiment, Rory.  His quiet, calm, wryly-good-humored approach to his professional life made him a pleasure to work with – I don’t think I ever saw him lose his cool.  He was able to cut through knotty problems (both technical and otherwise) much faster than I could.  I learned a lot from him over the years, and was shocked and saddened to hear of his passing.

Since I met him at my first EPrints training course at Southampton (a long time back), the 18 months we spent working together at UoL and the past difficult year Tim was ever calm, intelligent, patient and generous. Any conversation with Tim left one a little wiser, a lot more reassured and with a smile ones face. 

 

He'll be missed greatly, and remembered fondly.

Sad times indeed.

 

Tim was one of the first people I met when I started my EPrints journey.

His clarity of thought and ability to explain the strange world of EPrints was both engaging and inspiring.

I am sorry to inform you that Tim passed away yesterday morning. He had been very sick and fought bravely, with optimism, until the end.

 

For over 10 years, Tim had made huge contributions to EPrints and open access and it's fair to say that they wouldn't be quite the same without him. He was an inspiration and influence to many of us.
