Re: [EP-tech] AddThis - social bookmarking tool - dead

I have seen some use of https://www.addtoany.com/ on repositories.

Shariff may be a good alternative and offers privacy too, because it doesn't share info with social platforms.

There's a plugin for Open Journal Systems (OJS, https://github.com/ojsde/shariff), so why not somebody write one for EPrints?

Kind regards,

Martin

Subject: [EP-tech] AddThis - social bookmarking tool - dead

Hi,
I believe some repositories were using the 'AddThis' social bookmarking tool.
This service has now been killed: https://www.addthis.com/

This caused some interesting issues for my repositories in some browsers - which didn't handle the change very well.

If you have used AddThis in your repository (or on other web sites you support), you might want to remove the _javascript_ sooner rather than later!

Cheers,

John
