[EP-tech] Re: RAM Requirement for ePrints

What do you mean by large data: many records or records with big documents? I don’t think big documents will require more memory.

QUT ePrints has 55,000 records with 300,000+ full-text downloads/month. We have a separate application and database server, both of which are virtual machines on the university’s VMWare infrastructure.  The app server has 8GB of RAM and the DB server has 4GB. Each server uses up to 80% of its RAM at peak times but sit closer to 20% on average.

Memory demand from the application will scale with the number of simultaneous users. I think MySQL will need benefit from more memory as the number of records increases so it can continue to work in memory.

Cheers

Mark

Subject: [EP-tech] RAM Requirement for ePrints

Hi, I'm Agung.

I'm installing eprints 3.3.12 on HP Proliant ML-150 G5 with 1GB (512MB x 2) RAM. Right now, it sometime out of memory.

Is there any RAM recommendation for ePrints with large data. Because I want to upgrade the memory, but the management asking exactly how much RAM needed for the entire process.

Any help very appreciate

Thank you
