Notes on Static Pages

Static Pages are pages within the system which do not change on a regular basis and don't display ePrint records. Examples include the home page of the archive as well as "about" pages. To aid in changing these easily we have developed a plugin which allows you to edit them via a graphical package such as Amaya or Dreamweaver.

The Template

To maintain the consistant look a feel of EPrint pages, each page is divided into a template and the content. This is important to remember when editing a page in tools such as Dreamweaver as EPrints will pull your submitted page apart into template and content. The diagram below highlights the template and content parts of the home page. It is roughly the same for every other page within the system.

Purple = Template, Orange = Page Content

The template file corresponds to the file (default.xml) which we look at in the configuration code section.

Graphically Editing Static Pages

Whilst logged in as Admin find the page you wish to edit and click the "Edit page" link in the admin bar.

From the screen which appears you can then download the page you came from as html for offline editing. The same screen then allows you to re-upload the file into the repository which will split it into it's constitute parts.
