When looking at a journal with spaces in its name (which are converted to underscores) I get a 404 message. The 404 message mentions 'generate_views', if this script really is redundant with 3.1 then this message perhaps should be considered as a low priority bug. Extract from error log [Tue Jun 17 13:02:22 2008] [error] [client 139.184.66.123] File does not exist: /opt/eprints3/archives/ep3m/html/en/view/journals/Advances_in_Space_Research, referer: http://ep3m.lib.sussex.ac.uk:8082/view/journals/ The browse views section is missing. The site admin needs to run generate_views. This should be automated with cron. See the documentation for more details. Invalid value id in get_filters 'Advances_in_Space_Research' in menu: journals/Advances_in_Space_Research/ [Tue Jun 17 13:02:24 2008] [error] [client 139.184.66.123] File does not exist: /opt/eprints3/archives/ep3m/html/en/view/journals/Advances_in_Space_Research, referer: http://ep3m.lib.sussex.ac.uk:8082/view/journals/ The browse views section is missing. The site admin needs to run generate_views. This should be automated with cron. See the documentation for more details. [again, generate_views mentioned, should this error message be updated?] I upgraded to rc2 yesterday, and the upgrade seems to have gone ok (e.g. admin page shows correct version). I've tried running generate_views, which I know should not be needed but though I would try, it produced (lots of) the following messages: Use of uninitialized value in hash element at /opt/eprints3/perl_lib/EPrints/Database.pm line 2944. Use of uninitialized value in hash element at /opt/eprints3/perl_lib/EPrints/Database.pm line 2944. Invalid value id in get_filters 'Proceedings_of_the_National_Academy_of_Sciences' in menu: journals/Proceedings_of_the_National_Academy_of_Sciences/ Anything I should try? Thanks Chris PS clarification over generate_views would be appreciated, is it still useful for when your having problems, or does it do nothing more than the 'regenerate views' button in the admin section, and hence not worth trying as another option when trying to troubleshoot. -- Chris Keene C.J.Keene AT sussex.ac.uk Technical Development Manager Tel (01273) 877950 University of Sussex Library http://www.sussex.ac.uk/library/
