hmm,
what i always do is this:

1. edit cfg.d/eprints_render.pl
2. epadmin reload REPID
3. generate_abstract REPID DOCID
4. then chek at http://website/DOCID

try to do some other changes in eprints_render.pl and see if you get
different output, you can do print STDERR and watch it during the step
