Dealing with character encodings can be a real pain in the neck. But, I don't think you nedd a patch. We have been inserting higher order UTF-8 characters in EP 2.3 and EP 3.0.3 (and earlier versions) successfully for years. Make sure that you really insert characters with UTF-8 encoding. There is weird code out in the web to make non-English characters appear in web sites. To make things easier we have a help page where you can copy and paste UTF-8 encoded characters in to the form fields. Works for all text fields in EPrints: http://epub.uni-regensburg.de/help/utf8.html Feel free to adopt for your own needs. In the site's CSS we asked (Windows) clients to use the "Arial Unicode MS" font to enhance the chance that characters are shown correctly: font-family:"Arial Unicode MS",verdana,arial,sans-serif; Good Luck Helge -- ---- Dr. rer. nat.
