Thanks Tim and Bas.The error is now resolved.This was indeed a case, as Bas had 
suggested, of system thinking there is not enough disk space.I changed the 
setting and it appears to be working.When one makes such changes, what is the 
way to make these new changes take effect?In this case I actually rebooted the 
system as I thought restarting httpd would not work for this case.Is there some 
way of shutting down and re-starting  eprints alone and not the system
