I was just being lazy, really, and waiting for 3.1 before upgrading.
Instead I'll go to 3.0.5 and see if the generate_views runs OK after
that.

I'll still presevere with GDOME, though.

I think there were a few XML::DOM related memory leaks that were fixed
in 3.0.3. Quite a few things have been fixed since 3.0.1b2.
(Any reason for not upgrading to 3.0.5?)

GDOME will probably avoid the memory leaks and will be a lot faster
anyway.

Have you tried following instructions on the wiki for gdome?
