The test configuration returns, the error message that we received when
we have the "PerlPassEnv...apache.conf" lines entered into the
httpd.conf returns a syntax error message that says all of the built
configuration files from the generate_apacheconf command had an error.

I tested the httpd.conf file by removing both lines and then testing
with each file in all the possible ways. I concluded that the
"Include...conf" line was the issue, then the message stopped
occurring
and I had access to the Apache server but not the Eprints main page.

I don't know much about running Apache on Windows, but there may be a
'Test Configuration' option.
If there is, what does it return?

*** EPrints community wiki - http://wiki.eprints.org/ Greetings folks!

The problem:

Having followed the instructions (to a tee hopefully) on

http://wiki.eprints.org/w/Installing_Eprints_3_on_Windows

I can't view a front-end webpage for EPrints 3.0. As per my epadmin
setup on Windows XP, the page should be viewable at http://localhost,
but alas, nothing.
-- When asked during the configuration setup for the initial archive
"myarchive" in the standard procedures, should I have imputed a
different host name? In respect to this procedure, does anyone have a
step-by-step explanation of what I am actually doing? I got a bit lost
during the step because I wasn't sure what to enter.

But the real issue, I believe, is with Apache Server (v. 2.4.9 - so
downloaded because 2.4.8 was racking up errors vis-?-vis the required
PERL_mods). The application runs correctly when its httpd.conf file is
unedited. However, the application ceases to function when I insert the
following code at the bottom of httpd.conf:

PerlPassEnv PERL5LIB
Include C:/EPrints/EPrints/cfg/apache.conf

Specifically, the "Include C:/EPrints/EPrints/cfg/apache.conf"
returns a
syntax error whenever Apache attempts to start. The path is correct,
and my environment variables are set correctly. I'm completely stumped
here, and would welcome any help/suggestions/sympathy.

[As a side note, the "generate_apacheconf" command worked correctly,
and
all the requisite .conf files were generated. Additionally, the code

LoadFile "C:/EPrints/Perl/bin/perl58.dll"
LoadModule perl_module modules/mod_perl.so

gives httpd.conf no problems whatsoever.]

Additionally, some of the installation guides say that MySQL should have
the group and user set to eprints but I can't figure out how to do that.
Does anyone have any pointers?

I apologize for this long, complicated and exhaustive post.

Sincerely,

Stephanie Cann
