Actions for Funders to Achieve Open Access
Funding Organisations can endorse and encourage Open Access by mandating open access for all research outputs from funded projects and programmes.
- Mandate that the research that is publicly funded must not merely be published but it must be publicly accessible online (whether through self-archiving, open-access journals, or both).
- Make it part of grant applications that CVs and bibliographies citing the applicant's prior work should contain links to the online full-text (whether self-archived or in open-access journals, or both).
For further details see the proposal for a UK national policy of open access for all refereed research output for research assessment.
