Poll shows popular support for proposed EC Self-Archiving Mandate

European researchers have demonstrated overwhelming support for the European Commission's proposed Open Access Self-Archiving Mandate (A1). Supplementing the petition in favour of this recommendation, Les Carr has revealed the results of a poll of the mandate's target constituency, the administrators of currently active projects in the EU Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development. It is important to note the context of the poll was whether researchers were for or against EC Recommendation A1, to mandate open access self-archiving (for reference, the text of the emailed poll can be viewed).

The result:
85.8% in favour, 14.2% against (response rate 8.22% from 2652 email invitations to vote).
